To encourage the development of sustainable communities, especially in Greater Bristol and neighbouring areas<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aim is to help communities to become sustainable, where currently they are not and to encourage the creation of sustainable communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By &#8216;Community&#8217;, we mean any group of people that have a common heart &#8211; that heart could be economic, geographic or spiritual.&nbsp; Such communities could be of any size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By &#8216;sustainable&#8217; we mean for communities to maximise the use of energy from means which have a low cost on natural resources: both physical and human, and to be tenable within the context of the wider society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples of sustainability, in this context, are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>cultural, ethnic and sociological harmony<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>non-violence<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>use of alternative energy, low-pollution and low fuel-use<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples of how sustainability could be promoted are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>education in ethnic and cultural awareness and tolerance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>personal development of young people to understand and implement sustainability<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>supporting disadvantaged groups in order to empower them to create sustainable lifestyles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>supporting\/creating communities that set examples of sustainable society<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>supporting victims of crime and violence in ways that break cycles of crime<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>supporting activities that bring out peoples&#8217; or communities&#8217; natural strengths<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Small component parts of large communities would be considered worthy of support, if the activities promote sustainability of the wider community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. To support Religious Society of Friends (Quaker) activities, in Britain, with an emphasis on the involvement of young people.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. To support Quaker projects in Africa to be interpreted widely, but not to include the payment of school fees of individual applicants.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:35%\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-content-justification-stretch is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-73b0033c wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right has-x-large-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.2\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>IMPORTANT NOTES TO BID APPLICANTS:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Trust is unlikely to accept bids from National organisations unless the criteria laid out in this policy&nbsp; can be demonstrated for a specific project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We would not normally expect to pay for the total cost of any project.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We would look favourably on proposals by <a href=\"https:\/\/fwcc.world\/\">Friends World Committee for Consultation<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Trust\u2019s resources are limited and to date, grants have been less than \u00a35000, although applications for larger amounts will be considered<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No bid will be considered other than via the approved application form<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any project or activity supported by the Trust, must be inclusive and lawful&nbsp; in its nature.\u200b<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IMPORTANT NOTES TO BID APPLICANTS:<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-11","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.graham-ecroyd-trust.org.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/11","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.graham-ecroyd-trust.org.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.graham-ecroyd-trust.org.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.graham-ecroyd-trust.org.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.graham-ecroyd-trust.org.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=11"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/www.graham-ecroyd-trust.org.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/11\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":13,"href":"https:\/\/www.graham-ecroyd-trust.org.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/11\/revisions\/13"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.graham-ecroyd-trust.org.uk\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=11"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
