{"id":11,"date":"2025-06-23T12:39:18","date_gmt":"2025-06-23T11:39:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.graham-ecroyd-trust.org.uk\/?page_id=11"},"modified":"2026-07-01T09:51:25","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T08:51:25","slug":"grant-making-policy","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.graham-ecroyd-trust.org.uk\/index.php\/grant-making-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Grant Making Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Graham Ecroyd Trust<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Grant Making Policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This policy sets out the use of any assets or income that is held within the trusteeship of The Graham Ecroyd Trust (&#8220;The Trust&#8221;).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Trust\u2019s primary principle is to support <strong>Sustainable Communities.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aim is to help communities to become sustainable, where currently they are not and to encourage the creation of sustainable communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By &#8216;Community&#8217;, we mean any group of people that have a common heart &#8211; that heart could be economic, geographic or spiritual. Such communities could be of any size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By &#8216;sustainable&#8217; we mean for communities to maximise the use of energy from means which have a low cost on natural resources: both physical and human, and to be tenable within the context of the wider society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Examples of sustainability, in this context, are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>cultural, ethnic and sociological harmony<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>non-violence<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>use of alternative energy, low-pollution and low fuel-use; specifically in the context of transport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Examples of how sustainability could be promoted are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>education in ethnic and cultural awareness and tolerance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>personal development of young people to understand and implement sustainability<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>supporting disadvantaged groups in order to empower them to create sustainable lifestyles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>supporting\/creating communities that set examples of sustainable society<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>supporting victims of crime and violence in ways that break cycles of crime<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>supporting activities that bring out peoples&#8217; or communities&#8217; natural strengths<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Small component parts of large communities would be considered worthy of support, if the activities promote sustainability of the wider community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The scope of this activity is primarily through the development of communities within one of the following contexts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the Bristol, West of England and South West region of the UK.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The work of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Britain, with an emphasis on the involvement of young people<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The work of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) overseas with a particular preference for Quaker work in Africa.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Projects pertaining to Quaker work should provide a letter of support, or other relevant evidence, from a relevant Quaker organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Support of individuals for general work within these contexts, or for educational fees, are not supported unless directly related to a specific project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">IMPORTANT NOTES TO BID APPLICANTS:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Trust is unlikely to accept bids from National organisations unless the criteria laid out in this policy can be demonstrated for a specific project<ul><li>The Trust\u2019s resources are limited and to date most grants have been less \u00a35000.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>No bid will be considered other than via the approved application form<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Any project or activity supported by the Trust, must be inclusive in its nature.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Trustees, June 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.graham-ecroyd-trust.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Policy-2026.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.graham-ecroyd-trust.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Policy-2026.pdf\">Download a copy in PDF form<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Graham Ecroyd Trust Grant Making Policy This policy sets out the use of any assets or income that is held within the trusteeship of The Graham Ecroyd Trust (&#8220;The Trust&#8221;).
